Join us as we celebrate an exciting new exhibition of monoprint artwork created by senior artists at the Carter Burden Network's Leonard Covello Senior Center in East Harlem.
Titled “Print Your Heart Out,” the exhibition will display the senior’s monoprints – a modern derivation of ancient cave-painting/printing using colorful liquid clay to make mono-prints on paper:
The exhibition is a culmination of a six-month program called SU-CASA which gave the seniors the chance to study under the instruction Carter Burden Network’s artist-in-residence Syma – an innovative artist and art educator.
SU-CASA is a collaboration among the New York City Council, the Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), the Department for the Aging (DFTA) and the City's five local arts councils. This program is administered by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and supported by public funds from the City Council in partnership with the DCA and DFTA.
The celebration will be held on Saturday, June 17th from 1:30pm-3:30pm at the Carter Burden Leonard Covello Senior Program. Musical entertainment by The Peace of Heart choir will begin at 2:45pm. Refreshments will be served.
The exhibition will be open to the public from June 16 to July 31, 2017. Hours are: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Mondays and Fridays 11 a.m.– 1 p.m.
