The Carter Burden/Leonard Covello Senior Center is getting a much-needed face-lift thanks, in large part, to a generous $6 million in funding fromNew York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito.
On August 23rd, the Speaker toured Covello to get a first-hand look with press at some of the areas designated for renovation including the kitchen and dining facilities, bathrooms, elevators, and program space.
This was followed by a celebration to thank Speaker Mark-Viverito for her support of this critical renovation that will transform the center into a more accommodating, accessible, and beautiful space. The Carter Burden Network Asian Dance Group and the Carter Burden Network All Stars Dancers performed and long-time Covello member, Jenny Rodriguez, gave a touching testimonial about the Speaker’s dedication to Covello and the community.
Renovation project start date to be announced later this year.
