A ROADMAP TO LEGAL ISSUES IN RETIREMENT
TAKING BETTER CONTROL OF OUR LIVES AS WE AGE

The New School’s Institute for Retired Professionals will host Robert Freedman, a nationally known expert on trusts, estates, and advocacy for vulnerable populations on: SATURDAY, MARCH 7, 9:30—12:00 P.M.

This presentation will cover legal issues that we all must address in retirement and beyond. The program will hold particular value for members of the aging population, as the risk of mental and physical incapacity increases with age. Topics covered will include:

  • Keeping control of your medical care

  • Making provisions for legal and financial management during life

  • Paying for long term care

  • Ensuring that end of life and funeral wishes are fulfilled

  • Providing for what happens to assets after death

Join us for coffee & light refreshments from 9:30-10 A.M.Followed by the lecture and Q&A session.

WHO: Robert Freedman, B.A. from Tufts University, 1976; J.D. from NYU School of Law, 1980, is a nationally recognized authority and pioneer in the field of elder law. He has more than 30 years of experience assisting multi-generational families with planning for their current and future needs. Mr. Freedman’s focus on elder law began in law school, and in 1985, he founded one of the nation’s first elder law firms. He is the founder of both the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and the Elder Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.

In addition to a traditional trust and estates practice, Robert M. Freedman, has focused on the planning and advocacy for vulnerable populations, including the aging population, persons with disabilities or other special needs. His legal experience and knowledge of available services for individuals with disabilities allow him to provide practical and thoughtful estate planning for his clients and their loved ones.
