Our commitment to advancing the health and wellness of the aging community is supported by both the development of evidence-based programming in our programs as well as partnerships with educational institutions

Evidence-based Programming

The Carter Burden Network is launching evidence-based health and wellness programming at various sites, thanks to support from the NYC Department of the Aging and the University at Albany-SUNY.

Evidence-based programs (EBPs) offer proven ways to promote health and prevent disease among older adults. These programs are based on research and provide documented health benefits, which is evidence of their effectiveness.

Older adults who participate in EBPs can lower their risk of chronic diseases and falls - or improve long-term effects of chronic diseases.

Educational Partnerships

Carter Burden Network's health and wellness programs are enhanced by partnerships with highly esteemed educational institutions.

Students from Hunter College's Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing and Columbia University's Occupation Therapy program provide health workshops and lectures on disease prevention and health education.

Through working with NYC older adults, students glean valuable experience while gaining greater insight into the health concerns and needs of the aging community. From these partnerships, we hope to cultivate an awareness of the importance of health management and disease prevention for older adults while offering an opportunity for students to enhance their skills in an enriching and compassionate environment.
