TODAY’S BUZZ:
The Carter Burden Network celebrated its 50th anniversary on Jan. 18, having grown from a single center to a network of programs and sites in Manhattan that serves close to 6,000 New Yorkers over the years. The center was initially founded by Upper East Side Council Member Carter Burden in 1971 in a storefront with only a single social worker available. “Over the past 50 years, as seniors’ needs have changed and grown, we consistently evolve in order to provide our clients with the most responsive programs and services,” Executive Director William Dionne wrote in a letter, highlighting its senior centers and expanded virtual programming amid the pandemic.
