He and his daughter Emily visited our Carter Burden Gallery on one of their last trips to NYC together, and said the experience gave them hope for older creatives who are fighting ageism in the art world.

Roosevelt Island Senior Center: Seeing Clients with Safety
Though Roosevelt Island Senior Center has suspended all on-site programs in accordance with the mandate from the Mayor’s office, RISC employees have continuously put forth a strong effort to connect with vulnerable seniors at this time. Social workers and staff members are making daily outreach calls to check-in on seniors, as well as providing on-site case management, by appointment, on Mondays and Tuesdays (Korean language), from 10 AM – 3 PM.

Artists who have already exhibited at the Gallery welcome newcomers by attending their openings, year after year. Fox Business - Coronavirus is Altering Senior Meal Delivery Services in New York
The Carter Burden Network has partnered with the likeminded nourishment program Citymeals on Wheels to feed its senior members. Citymeals on Wheels is providing enough resources for the Carter Burden Network to put together a box of three “shelf-stable”, non-perishable meals in case of an emergency or unattainable grocery store runs.

In her second exhibition with Carter Burden Gallery, Andrea Lilienthal presents dresses sewn from newsprint and thread in Small Disturbances. The forms highlight the images printed in the New York Times and call attention to life and nature under stress in many of the places the photographers focus their cameras on.
